Fantastic

My wife and I returned after12 years to Kenya and we had an amazing time in Diani Reef hotel and spa in Mombasa. The management and staff were excellent and made sure that we were well looked after. We enjoyed good variety and choice of food and they went further by asking us . We will make it a regular holiday destination.

Show-case them in your town hall and in the HR initiatives during the month. Shower superlatives if you have to and give them reason to be proud of being a part of the organization. Tell them they are amazing individuals and part of the organization’s success story.
  2. Give them your lenses. Let them see the Company vision from the owner’s and shareholders perspective. Let them know that team spirit is critical and they have a role to play. They must be made to understand the Company’s hopes, dreams and struggles and they will undoubtedly see the importance and the contribution in achieving the dreams.
  3. Communicate always and don’t ever stop. Tell them the success story and the progress of the Company. Don’t just harp on the sorry stories, the September 11’s, the stock market crash, economy downslide and the bearish stories. We all want to hear more of success stories, for the success of the organization is the success of the employee. The employee subconsciously begins to identify himself with the organization. A 10 minute standing meeting with rapid share of the Company’s successes and challenges can be a superb way ahead.
  4. Treat your employees with respect. By this you are creating an important condition, where people are propelled to deliver excellent work. So treat people with respect and dignity. Tell them what you want and trust them and they will justify your faith.
  5. Empowerment and Accountability. Empowerment is a strong motivational tool and if employees are empowered to make decisions taking into consideration their position, skill set, and maturity the results will be remarkable in the long run. But most of all people must know that they are accountable for their own decisions.
  6. Treat your Employees as Entrepreneurs. Hire motivated people and people with a passion. If your existing employees are not having the traits inculcate them by giving them some time. If nothing will convince them tell them that it is the end of the road.
  7. Make them part of the Decision making Process. Give your employees reason to be proud of themselves. Employees will support what they have built, what they have conceptualized, what they have innovated. Guide them in the process but give them the credit when they deserve. You may just need to even pamper their ego, self esteem and individuality. Just doing routine task can be boredom. Including employees in decision making provides a high level of ownership. When employees genuinely feel that their work and participation impacts the overall success of the Company then this feeling fuels them to action.
  8. Treat your employees like internal customers. Your employees are another type of customers for the business. You need them to buy into your vision, mission and expectations. We work differently when we are appreciated.
  9. Move the office outdoor sometimes. An employee day out is a great breather. Get out of office, out of routine, out of monotony. Go out to dine or cart racing or some adventure sports or just by the seaside to unwind, relax and feel the nature. Stop talking shop and let people express their natural self.
  10. Let people Do what they Do Best. This will make employees more productive because there is always something more specific each one of us can do and love to do most. Enacting our unique role is the greatest source of fulfillment than possession of objects. We can call this “Owning your unique self”.

But always remember what works for one does not always work for another. Different personalities are motivated by different things. So know your employees personality types. One good motivator is let people see their names in as many places as possible. Our name is the most potent sound we can hear and see. Put their names in the light.

Recognize, Recognize, Recognize your employees

Reward, Reward, Reward your employees.

Do it often and with sincerity. Make it a big deal. Know your employees and what lights up their fire.
